Twice the Expertise at Twice As Nice Interiors

When Mary Middlemiss’ Wall Street colleagues asked for help in renovating some New York apartments, she thought it
would be a fun diversion from her daily job as an office manager and event coordinator. Mary, who always had a great flair for interior design, teamed with her sister, fine arts student Nancy Rutigliano,
and embarked on their first joint project. The result: The sisters put together such magnificent interiors that Mary’s friends urged her to abandon Wall Street and embark on a new career path.

“Managing a design project takes the same skills as
managing a team of Wall Street bankers,” says Mary, “and now I
have the added bonus of working with my talented sister!”

Mary and Nancy formally combined their talents years ago and created Twice As Nice Interiors, a full-service interior design firm that has earned raves from clients in Manhattan, the Hamptons and everywhere in-between.

“Our approach is to brainstorm with clients, visiting their homes and going over their wish list from room to room,” says Nancy, who studied at Parsons School of Design and the New York School of Interior Design. “By combining our differing approaches, we achieve a unique style that conveys the personalities of each of our clients.”

The sisters pride themselves on their detail-oriented approach, from construction through the finishing touches, for jobs both large and small. “Customers come to us for our sense of style, our professionalism, and our service,” says Mary. “We guide them through every step of the process, making sure they have fun along the way."
